SEO Account Manager / Account Director - Remote UK | Occasional London meetings - £45,000 – £60,000 + performance related bonus

We are working with a growing specialist digital agency that is looking to strengthen its client services function with the appointment of an experienced SEO Account Manager / Account Director.

This is a great opportunity for someone who understands SEO but whose strengths sit firmly within client relationships, account management, project delivery and keeping teams and campaigns moving.

This is not a hands on SEO delivery role. You will not be expected to carry out technical SEO, write content or personally execute campaigns. Instead, you will sit between the client, strategy and delivery teams, making sure work is properly planned, delivered on time and to the right standard.

You will take ownership of a portfolio of client accounts, becoming a trusted day to day contact while coordinating the internal SEO team responsible for delivery.

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for the smooth running of your client accounts from both a relationship and delivery perspective.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and acting as their main day to day point of contact
  • Leading regular client calls, managing expectations and keeping communication clear and proactive
  • Taking agreed SEO strategies and turning them into structured delivery plans and actionable tasks
  • Coordinating the SEO delivery team and making sure work is appropriately prioritised and resourced
  • Monitoring deadlines, progress and potential blockers across multiple client projects
  • Reviewing work before it is shared with clients to ensure quality and consistency
  • Managing client feedback, approvals and any assets needed to keep projects progressing
  • Preparing and presenting monthly performance reports, clearly explaining results and relating activity back to wider client objectives
  • Keeping a close eye on workloads and helping to make sure the team is being used effectively
  • Identifying potential issues early and taking ownership of getting them resolved
  • Helping to improve internal processes, workflows and the way client delivery is managed as the agency continues to grow

What we are looking for

You will ideally have around 3 to 5 years of experience working within an SEO or digital marketing agency, with strong experience managing client relationships directly.

You do not need to be the person carrying out the SEO work, but you do need enough SEO knowledge to confidently discuss campaigns with clients, understand what the delivery team is working on and recognise whether work is at the standard it should be.

We are particularly interested in speaking with people who have:

  • Strong agency side account management or client services experience
  • A solid understanding of SEO campaigns, deliverables and typical project timelines
  • Experience managing several client accounts and priorities at the same time
  • Experience coordinating or managing a small delivery team
  • Strong project management skills and confidence working with project management platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • The ability to translate technical or performance information into clear conversations with clients
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to spot problems before they become bigger issues
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Experience improving agency processes, workflows or ways of working

It would also be useful if you have

  • An understanding of how AI is starting to influence SEO and organic search
  • Familiarity with areas such as AI search visibility and emerging search platforms
  • Experience working within a growing agency environment
  • Previous involvement in developing or scaling a small team

The opportunity

The agency is at a stage where it is investing further in its client management structure to support continued growth.

As one of the senior people responsible for client delivery, you will have plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to influence how the function develops rather than simply stepping into a rigid existing process.

It would suit someone who enjoys building genuine client relationships, bringing structure to delivery and working closely with a small team where they can have a noticeable impact.

The business operates on a remote first basis, so you can be based anywhere in the UK, although there will be occasional meetings in London.
