A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior / Lead Web Developer to take ownership of complex web projects, guide junior team members, and play a key role in shaping the future of a growing digital team within this client.

This role is ideal for an experienced developer who enjoys combining hands on coding with leadership, problem solving, and forward thinking technical strategy.

The Role:

You will be responsible for building high performing, visually engaging, and user focused web solutions from concept through to delivery. In addition to being hands on in a technical capacity, you will support and mentor a small team of developers, with a clear and structured progression plan to progress into a Head of Development position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain responsive websites and web applications using modern technologies and frameworks.

  • Implement secure, scalable back-end systems and integrations.

  • Optimise performance, accessibility, and SEO.

  • Lead on code reviews, best practice, and continuous improvement.

  • Translate briefs and requirements into functional, elegant, and efficient digital solutions.

  • Oversee multiple development projects, ensuring deadlines and standards are met.

  • Work collaboratively with wider teams to ensure cohesive delivery.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

We need you to have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience in web development.

  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (and frameworks such as Angular or React).

  • Strong back-end development skills with PHP or Node.js, plus database experience (MySQL or similar).

  • Proven experience developing bespoke WordPress themes and plugins.

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Experience mentoring or leading developers is highly desirable.

  • Strategic thinker who can contribute to technical planning and growth.

This is a senior position with the plan being for you to progress into a Head of Development role. You will help define best practices, influence technology choices, and contribute to long term team and technical strategy.
